Barclays hosts Development Organisations Conference

Barclays Bank hosted a one-day Development Organisations Conference on October 7, 2010 at Serena Hotel, Islamabad. The theme of the conference was, The Road to Sustainable Development: Challenges, Opportunities & Alliances.

The conference was held to develop an understanding with the development organisations sector of Pakistan, international development organisations and their local and international implementation partners; about the facilitation that Barclays can provide to them in the development of the country’s social sector.

Mr. Shazad Dada, Chief Executive Officer, Barclays Bank PLC Pakistan, welcomed and thanked the participants and offered his complete support to the development organisations. He said, “Barclays has been doing a lot of community development work, especially in the fields of education and healthcare. Keeping in line with Barclays’ ongoing commitment, we would like to facilitate the development organisations in enhancing their efforts in the social development of Pakistan through this conference.”

A number of international and local development organisations operating in the areas of education, healthcare, water and sanitation, relief and rehabilitation, monitoring and evaluation, power, entrepreneur and agriculture development participated in the conference. Others included delegates from donor agencies, embassies and consulates of various countries.
