Mobilink and its employees have been at the forefront to help the Internally Displaced Persons of the Swat, Malakand, Buner and other regions. Mobilink’s Security Team deserves special mention for their role in leading the collection and distribution efforts on ground. Through a combined team effort, we have started delivery of goods to the IDPs in Mardan and Swabi region.
Commenting on the efforts, Rashid Khan, President and CEO Mobilink stated, “Mobilink and its employees are very charged and motivated to help in this time of need. Our teams are constantly visiting the area to take stock of the situation so we can provide items that are most needed. However, there is a lot to be done and we encourage people to join us in our humble efforts to help as many families as possible.”
Mobilink employees have donated generously through various means:
• Mobilink Salary Donations – These funds are being made available by HR and Finance for use immediately even though deductions will be processed at the end of the month.
• Through Aid Collection Points set up and manned by our Security team. Located in select Mobilink main offices throughout Pakistan, these camps are also receiving donations from customers and external sources.
Additionally, we have also set up an SMS donation fund (short code 616) that has been publicized through print and electronic media to facilitate Mobilink users to make their contributions.
Through these various means, we have already raised close to PKR 3 million with Mobilink employees showing outstanding generosity that is testimony to the fact that the spirit of giving is very much alive at Mobilink.
These funds are being utilized to procure relief packs containing food and basic hygiene items that are being personally disbursed by our Security Team members. In the last two week, Mobilink has reached out to approx. 1,100 destitute families. With a view to reach out areas where no other NGO or government assistance had reached, our security teams have reached the furthest villages including Mir Ali Village, Parmuli Village, Ghulama, Sang Bhatti Ghari , Dualat Zai, Ghari Ismail Zai, Kot Dualat Zai, Kot Ismail Zai, Chumrung, Mohib Banda.
As the influx of IDPs increases with every passing day, Mobilink continues to play a vital role in providing aid and reshaping the lives of a large number of IDPs.
