Pakistan’s first group of women paratroopers

The successful  training of the first group of Pakistani female paratroopers is being hailed as a “landmark achievement” for the country. A total of 24 lady officers of Pakistan’s military completed their paratrooping training from  the Parachute Training School of Peshawar last July 14. The 3-week basic Airborne training course included exit, flight and landing techniques at the completion of which the new paratroopers were awarded with Para Wings at a ceremony by Major General Abid Rafique, General Officer Commanding Special Services Group. Captain Kiran Ashraf was declared the best paratrooper of the batch of 24, while Captain Sadia became the first woman officer to jump from a MI -17 helicopter.
