US citizen of Pakistan origin arrested over Times Square bomb

Faisal Shahzad, a US citizen of Pakistani origin was arrested yesterday in connection with the failed bomb attack in Times Square, New York. He was detained by police at JFK airport as he was attempting to leave the country. It I believed that he was driving the four-wheel vehicle used in the attack, a Nissan Pathfinder.
He was identified by customs agents and was stopped before boarding an Emirates airlines flight to Dubai.

Shahzad had recently returned from a five-month trip to Pakistan. He bought the 1993 Nissan Pathfinder about three weeks ago and paid in $100 bills.

The motive for the failed attack still remains uncertain. Though the Pakistani Taliban have appeared to take responsibility, New York police commissioner, Ray Kelly, and city mayor, Michael Bloomberg, have said there was “no evidence” to support that assertion.
